West Yorkshire Archive Service n/a
West Yorkshire Archive Service collects and looks after the unique documentary heritage of the region and helps members of the public access these records, enabling them to celebrate their identity and understand their past, present and future.
Our Kirklees office provides access to 30,000 boxes of original archives covering 800 years of local history relating to people, places and organisations across the entire Kirklees area. Our collections cover a vast array of subjects including records from local authorities, schools, businesses, clubs and societies, individuals and families. We also hold the archives of Kirklees Council and all its predecessors.
You can find out more about the records we hold on our online catalogue here: www.catalogue.wyjs.org.uk/calmview/.
The WYAS Kirklees office is based within Huddersfield Library and you can make an appointment to view any of the archives that we hold within our public searchroom by contacting us on kirklees@wyjs.org.uk or 0113 535 0150.
We hold regular events and exhibitions celebrating the remarkable history of the Kirklees area.
