The Re-Store is a Refurnish Devon social enterprise which ‘Repairs, Rejuvenates and Recreates’ donated furniture and furnishings, providing opportunities for individuals to gain skills, improve their personal wellbeing, while reducing waste at the same time.

As a social enterprise the project also displays the work of local upcycling artists – in return, they support the project by giving their time and skills to restore items donated to Refurnish for the project, help staff the shop, and/or give a commission on the sales of their work to support the project.

The ReStore is located at the “Shops at Dartington”, nr Totnes in Devon at the site of the former Dartington Pottery, and includes a shop, separate workshop and storage, craft studio space and large external area. We are open six days a week with an equipped workshop. The project currently involves approximately 60 volunteers and about a dozen displaying artists, and one part-time paid/volunteer coordinator and since June 2015 a part-time paid assistant.

The project hosts daily skills exchange sessions involving; weaving, mosaics, paper, knitting/crochet, textiles as well as seat caning and upholstery. It also hosts periodic ‘Repair Cafes’ where volunteer experts offer help to the public with household items needing repair, with tea/coffee and cake on hand to take at leisure at the same time.

Since its’ inception in November 2013, the project has been very positively received, but continues to invite new people to become involved in the project and for donations of furniture needing repair or improvement.

For further information or to become involved in any way, please speak with us as we are always happy to share what we are up to..

Thank you for taking an interest!
