The Ark Theatre Great Live Entertainment in Elstree and Borehamwood
The Ark Theatre Borehamwood, situated at the rear of the town's Civic Car Park, was built as a venue for the people of Elstree and Borehamwood to provide both a performance space for local groups and offer entertainment for the community as a whole. Hertsmere Borough Council funded the majority of the two million pound facility which opened in 2009.
The Ark offers a diverse range of professional visiting drama, dance, music, comedy, film and children's theatre complimented by work produced by the community, for the community. The theatre also provides an important platform for young people to perform, learn and develop in the arts.
The 250 seat theatre is state-of-the-art whilst retaining traditional features such as a proscenium arch and a small balcony. The 10m x 9.5m stage offers a fantastic platform for all performance types and boasts a comprehensive lighting rig and in-house sound system.
Backstage facilities include extensive dressing room facilities, a large scene dock and ample wing and quick change space.
Front of House you will find a box office, cloakroom and bar area. All of which will make your visit to the Ark, either as a theatre goer or visiting producer a pleasant one.
The Ark Theatre is grateful for the support of its three funding partners; Hertsmere Borough Council, Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council and Hertsmere Academy.
