St Albans, Harpenden, Marshalswick Libraries Artist in Residence

We are so excited for the new My Story: Artist in Residence at St Albans, Harpenden and Marshalswick libraries from September to December this year. We’re delighted to announce that our new Artist in Residence will be Mandy Johnson.

Mandy is an illustrator, muralist and mixed media artist. Her work is inspired by community, nature and colour and hopes to bring a sense of child-like joy to her residency across the St Albans district. As well as leading sessions for invited community groups, Mandy will be delivering events for all ages and abilities and working on her own art in libraries at the following times:

ST ALBANS LIBRARY

Thursday 5 September, 2-5pm – Community Collage Drop In
Create a community collage for the library in this free, creative session. This drop in is open to all ages and abilities and Mandy would love to collaborate with people from across our community. Learn collage skills to add your favourite places, people and memories to her ‘What Makes You Happy?’ final piece.

Saturday 21 September, 10.30am-4.30pm – Working in The Library
Come and watch Mandy at work. Feel free to ask questions and see what she is creating in the library.

Saturday 12 October, 10.30am-4.30pm – Working in The Library

Monday 28 October, 3-4.30pm – Diwali Workshop

Tuesday 29 October, 10.30am-12pm – Posca Pen Workshop for Families
Join Mandy to learn how to use Posca pens to create your own art. Suitable for families and little ones. Tickets available for £3 per family.

Tuesday 29 October, 7-9pm – Mindful Posca Pen Workshop
Join Mandy for an evening of mindful creation and social connection. Learn how to use posca pens to create exciting art in the library. Suitable for ages 16+, tickets at £5 per person.

Tuesday 19 November, 7-9pm – Holiday Card Workshop
Wondering which holiday cards to send this year? Why not make your own? Join Mandy to create new cards from old books, and make and design your own holiday greetings. Suitable for ages 13+ and tickets are £5 per person.

Monday 16 September, 10am-2pm - Working in The Library
Come and watch Mandy at work. Feel free to ask questions and see what she is creating in the library.

Thursday 19 September, 3-4pm - Mid-Autumn Lantern Making
Mandy will be leading a lantern making session in Harpenden Library, open to all, to celebrate the Mid-Autumn festival. This creative session is free, but donations are accepted.

Join illustrator Mandy Johnson in this fun colouring session. Colour her dynamic doodles to make your own brand-new design.

Thursday 14 November, 7-9pm – Mindful Watercolours
Join Mandy for a mindful evening of watercolours. Suitable for those just wanting to get started and those who have already had a go at home. The evening will also include a creative session from The Ollie Foundation. Suitable for ages 13+ and tickets are £5 per person.

Artist and illustrator, Mandy Johnson, will be leading a vibrant drawing workshop for all ages. Learn to draw from the art that Mandy creates. This creative session is free, but donations are accepted.
