Write to Freedom is an award-winning charity founded in 2008 by ex-offender Caspar Walsh to support disaffected young men who have undergone challenging life experiences. Write to Freedom offers a transformational educational programme, providing contemporary rites of passage into responsible, accountable and creative adulthood.

We focus on supporting and empowering the personal and professional development of each student through a series of challenging outdoor activities, one to one mentoring and the building of a working, growing community based in a wilderness location in Devon. Students return to this location throughout the year to re-connect, recharge and develop creative projects, personal skills and emotional intelligence, and to individually set goals for the short and the long term.

We deliver a dynamic programme for our students, helping them transition into responsible, accountable adulthood. We achieve this through mentoring, wilderness experiences, writing, creative community-based projects and extensive career development opportunities through our introductory and advanced mentoring programmes. We are now building a staff training programme to expand our work further afield.
