We are excited to be offering this temporary part-time role in our Creative Projects team to help us deliver the creative strategy of the company whilst the Creative Director is on maternity leave. The role will be mainly based at Trestle Arts Base working closely with our Creative Projects Manager and Create, Speak, Thrive Project Manager as well as delivering workshops and projects in external locations across Hertfordshire and potentially the country.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in theatre outreach, delivering and planning workshops and projects for a variety of audiences including young people in and out of education settings, adults with disabilities and Arts and Health programmes focussing on wellbeing and supporting mental health. Creating an open and welcoming environment for everyone and fostering a participant-led approach to workshop delivery is paramount to this role and the ethos of Trestle. Term: January 2nd 2023 – June 30th with some induction in December 2023 to be agreed on availability.

Remuneration: £23,000 pro rata part-time contract for 19 hours a week (£11,653 pa) on a temporary 6-month basis. These hours will be flexible based on need and in agreement with the rest of the team but may include evening and weekend work. Other benefits include holiday plus bank holidays on a pro-rata basis and access to a free EAP scheme.

Purpose of Post: To support the Creative Projects Manager and Create, Speak, Thrive Project Manager in delivering our creative strategy.

Responsible to: Executive Director

Duties
To deliver mask, physical theatre and bespoke workshops in schools from primary to FE.
To plan and deliver new creative projects with the Creative Projects Manager.
Where necessary to support the planning and delivery of the School of Drama and Community Groups at Trestle Arts Base.
Where necessary to support with the planning and delivery of the Create, Speak, Thrive Project.
To support the office administration of our creative projects such as contracting organisations and freelance practitioners, sending invoices and checking payments.
To attend relevant networking meetings with creative partners and local networking groups.
To assist in preparing reports for the Board of Trustees (for which there will be 2 during the 6-month period)

Marketing/Press
To engage in social networking primarily Instagram, Twitter and Facebook
To use social media when out in the field, as well as with new information on events, etc

Other
To act as an advocate and representative for Trestle Theatre Company as required
To be a designated First Aider (training will be given if required).
To contribute actively to the general running of the office with the rest of the staff
To assist in writing descriptions for funding applications and reports
Answer the telephone and deal with the Taking Part email addresses
To collate audit data from creative projects.
To upsell our masks and workshops.
To be aware of Trestle’s Health and Safety Policy and Risk Assessments and to adhere to working within them.
To abide by and ensure that all aspects of our Creative Projects comply with the Company’s Equal Opportunities, Safeguarding and other policies.
Any other duties as reasonably required.

Person Specification:

Essential
Demonstrable expertise in theatrical mask practice and physical theatre.
Experience in delivering workshops in school settings.
Experience in planning and administrating creative projects.
To be educated to a degree level or qualified by experience
A commitment to the success of the Company and to its ongoing development.
A demonstrable commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment.
Good communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels, both internally and externally.
Understanding of Health and Safety and implementing safe working practices.
Understanding of safeguarding procedures.
A positive attitude with a high level of self-motivation and the ability to work using your own initiative taking personal responsibility and resolving issues independently.
An understanding of Equal Opportunity and Cultural Diversity issues in the delivery of our services including an understanding of access and disability requirements.

Desirable
Experience in HE.
Experience training teachers and practitioners.
Experience writing and reporting on funding applications.
Experience working with a wide range of participants including older adults and people with learning disabilities.
