Dartington Playgoers are celebrating 70 years since their founding by Dorothy Elmhirst by having commissioned another community play from locally based playwright Nick Stimson. Nick has written for us in the past (we presented "Love & Fire" at the Ariel Centre in Totnes some years ago), and is once more re-united with Director Richard Clark.

The play revolves around a visit to Dartington by a family from Plymouth who unexpectedly find time behaving strangely! Set in both the 1920s and the present day, they - and especially their stroppy teenage daughter - sing and dance their way through what they thought would be just another day out.

Along the way we encounter the Elmhirsts as their vision takes shape, and experience some of the conflicts that arose within the local community.
Live music, most specially arranged for this production, will surely have some of the audience members singing along!

Following a series of workshops, a large cast has been assemble to do justice to this journey, exploring along the way what Dartington is about. We hope friends, old and new, will join us for what will be a once in a lifetime experience!
