Award for Queensgate Market & Temporary Contemporary
Queensgate Market has won the Innovation of the Year Award for the Temporary Contemporary project in Queensgate Market in Huddersfield. The award was given by NABMA (National Association of British Market Authorities) and announced at an award ceremony this week.
The NABMA holds an annual competition in a range of categories to celebrate excellence in retail and wholesale markets across the UK.
Graham Wilson, CEO of NABMA, said, “British Markets are the beating hearts of many local communities and through innovation and enterprise are re-inventing themselves to meet the challenges of the future. We are proud to be organising these nationally recognised awards and look forward to receiving entries from across the UK.”
The Temporary Contemporary initiative places contemporary art in vacant spaces within Queensgate Market. and is a partnership between the traders at Queensgate Market, Kirklees Council Markets and Creative Economy Teams and the School of Art, Design and Architecture, University of Huddersfield.
