Explore the rich history of the St Albans City and District by visiting our sites.
Verulamium Museum is a fantastic place to find out about everyday Roman life. The Museum is built on the site of one of the largest Roman settlements in Britain which means that, as well as seeing a museum packed with Roman objects, you can also explore the remains of the Roman town. In Verulamium Park you can visit the Hypocaust and see remains of the Roman wall. Across the road you can visit the Roman Theatre.

The medieval Clock Tower is open on Saturdays and Sundays between Easter and the end of September. The view is worth climbing the 93 steps!
The Sopwell Ruins add historical interest to a picnic or walk.
The Museum of St Albans closed in September 2015 as part of a planned redevelopment. To find out more about the new museum and gallery: http://www.stalbansmuseums.org.uk/project/
