Altamont

On Saturday 6 December 1969 over 300,000 people arrived for the West Coast’s version of Woodstock. Altamont was the Rolling Stones’ vision of free music. But as dusk descended, celebration turned to carnage, bringing the peace-and-love ethos of the 60s to a violent end.

Inspired by the tragic events at the Altamont Speedway Free Festival and the film Gimme Shelter, Altamont is one man’s experience of life, death and music. Premiere performances of this new play.
