On a number of occasions, it has been said to me that it is fascinating to get to the bottom of why I feel I need to work in the way I do. There is a great dichotomy at work. To someone on the outside, there appears to be an amazing contrast between who I appear to be, and what I desire to come out by the way I work. I am keen to explore this idea in more depth. This photograph shows me, with painted marks that resemble a butcher’s diagram, sitting with a real cow skin. It is a suggestion of the lost parts of the animal, which were lost through butchery for human consumption. The animal and I, HAD the same parts, a suggestion of life and death.
