Oxhey Library Artist in Residence

Oxhey Library Artist in Residence

We’re excited to announce our upcoming Artist in Residence at Oxhey Library. In March and April we will be hosting Abigail Lagden in a series of creative workshops for all ages and abilities. Her residency will give the chance to get lost in creativity, learn new techniques and connect with the local community.

Abigail says: “I am a self taught artist, working mainly with fabrics and a fabric hardener to create fun, whimsical pieces that make people smile. I love all things magical and fantastical; things which appeal to the inner child in us and feed our imagination; and my work certainly reflects that.

I create sculptural, often functional, pieces which still retain the appearance of fabrics within the design. They are highly textured, colourful and tactile. I use painting mediums and techniques that enhance the textures using layering and shading. It’s a fun, messy craft that ignites the imagination.

I believe that art and creativity should be fun and that it provides real benefits to everyone in terms of getting lost in the moment and providing a break from the real world. So, I am really excited about bringing that idea of fun and also mindfulness to my residency.
As well as spending time in Oxhey Library working on my own pieces, I will be getting visitors and members of the community involved through a collaborative piece and also through a number of workshops where I can share my passion for creating.”
