Millennium Stone

Commissioned to mark the turn of the millennium in East Grinstead, this 11 ton rock of local ironstone which stands on the Greenwich Meridian, reflects on times past and present by its very location, and is dedicated to the children of the town who represent the future. Inspired by the work of Rodin, it speaks of the erosion of form by human contact, and is designed to be worn away by touch to reveal the iron skeleton of the rock within.
