Call for Artists - Appledore Visual Arts Festival
CALL FOR ARTISTS
Theme: Mud

Appledore Arts - In 1997 internationally renowned artist Sandy Brown established Appledore Arts and the UK’s first annual Visual Arts Festival. The format has now become a biennale with the next festival taking place in summer 2014 over four days (more info at www.appledorearts.org).
Appledore Arts is now inviting applications from artists based on the theme of ‘Mud’. We welcome applications from artists working across all media including visual art, performance/live art, film, digital, sound, text based work, and socially engaged practice. We are interested in receiving proposals for any of the following categories:
1. Events
2. Workshops
3. Residencies
4. Schools Projects
5. Festival Photographer
6. Exhibitions and Artists Trail
Proposals should aim to intrigue and engage audiences. Work can be for indoor or outdoor locations, made for intimate spaces as well as larger public places.
Our fee for selected artists ranges between £150 to £200 per day. We pay expenses for materials and travel. For those artists who require accommodation we aim to provide lodgings with local residents who are supporters of the Festival. As part of the selection process we will discuss each project and agree a budget for materials prior to contract approval.
Application Process
There is no application form. Artists will be selected on the basis of an outline proposal and budget. Please submit your costed proposal making clear your chosen category, include a CV and art work as required. If you would like your artwork returned please include an SAE. During December 2013 applications will be reviewed by our Selection Panel and all applicants will be informed of the outcome by mid January 2014 with artwork returned by February 2014.
