Deputy Head of Stage, Opera North

Opera North is the national opera company for the North of England.

Based in Leeds, they are a vibrant, lively organisation, committed to producing work of the highest quality that excites, challenges and entertains. They deliver over 100 mainstage performances each year throughout the north of England, and also tour nationally and internationally; fill their own venue, the Howard Assembly Room, with a huge range of activity; and provide a valuable resource for the cultural life of the region.

The forty-strong technical department has earned an enviable reputation for excellence and, due to an internal promotion, they are looking for a second Deputy Head of Stage to join the team.

The role will involve, supporting and deputizing for the Head of Stage, working closely with their other Deputy Head of Stage, supervising the staging elements of new and revived productions both in rehearsal and on stage during our seasons in Leeds and on tour nationally.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a wide knowledge of stage craft, scenery building, stage machinery, flying, rigging, the ability to supervise and run teams on shows, builds and strikes, get-ins and get-outs. They must have an excellent knowledge of current H&S practices and will also be required to work closely with our other technical Heads of Department to deliver productions to the highest standards.
