The Cornish are coming!

Torbay Jubilee Choir with Rame Peninsula Male Voice Choir and Keltique in concert for Rowcroft Hospice

Last year, members of two Cornish choirs came up to Torquay to celebrate a birthday.

They enjoyed their visit so much that this year they are coming back, and they are going to sing to us.

The Rame Peninsula male voice choir and their female complementary choir Keltique, have teamed up with our very own Torbay Jubilee Choir to create a concert in Wellswood, from which they will be donating profits to Rowcroft Hospice. This means a mini three choirs festival in Torquay.

The two Cornish choirs are both directed by Jonathan Delbridge. The Jubilee Choir is.directed by Jane Anderson-Brown. Each choir will be singing a variety of pieces from popular songs such as ‘The Rose’, through folk songs and spirituals to grand opera choruses. At the end there will be a grand finale with all three choirs singing together – some 60 voices raised to sing ‘The Rhythm of Life,’ and the chance to join them in singing ‘Jerusalem’.

As it is an afternoon concert, we hope that people who are reluctant to venture out in the evening can come and enjoy music during daylight hours.

“We are delighted that the Jubilee Choir is bringing this to us, and raising funds for the hospice,” said Laura Cameron, Community Fundraising Manager at Rowcroft. “It will be an excellent value concert – hearing three exceptional choirs for £6.”
