James has been playing drums since 1986. He has played all over the U.K, and has played drums and percussion on three well-received albums by singer-songwriter Nicky Swann.
He has also written on motivation and practice for Modern Drummer, the world's most widely read drum magazine.

James became a Drumsense tutor in 2008, and now teaches a very healthy roster of private students of various ages & levels, as well as several schools working as a peripatetic tutor.

James uses Yamaha acoustic drums, along with Protection Racket cases & Roland electronics.
He is also a proud endorser of Istanbul Mehmet cymbals, & is on their team of UK educators.

James is married with three children, and lives in Totnes, Devon.
