Identity exhibition of art

This exhibition called Identity showcases artwork by mainly untrained artists with a lived experience of mental health and learning disabilities. Much of the art exhibited is from Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust’s art collection and includes a small number of pieces loaned by the artists.

Being acknowledged as an artist contributes to a sense of identity, purpose and wellbeing, while exhibiting allows for public recognition by the wider community and gives a sense of achievement. Created for both leisure and therapeutic self-expression, the art in this exhibition differs in mood, style and subject matter.

While representing a range of artistic responses to the theme of Identity the artwork you will see here is highly personal, often symbolic, sometimes mysterious and always imaginative and evocative.
