Relax 4
Relax 4 is the 4th/last image in a series of relatively small brush strokes on hand made fibrous paper.
The first is a straight line, leading to this more relaxed form using a decorators brush, sumi and 2 shades of acrylic paint to achieve the colours and shape.
Because the paper is absorbent and has a resistive surface, I was running out of hands to hold the paper, get the right brush fill and then make the mark. Because I was running out of paper, the individual Relax pieces are fairly small.
I can't wait for my next experiments with far larger canvases, papers and boards and mixing in print and 2-D or 3-D mixed media. On the other hand, I need to work up to these because there is only one shot at getting the mark 'right' and often it's hard to see what 'right' is, until you see whether you achieved it, or not.
I feel like Star Trek - Space, the final frontier - how to accomodate the large scale experiments I'd like to do, and yet still have studio or house space to move and live in.
