This pinecone study was just one result of an ongoing study and research project into natural occurrences of fibonacci patterns and series. I'd spent a summer looking at sunflowers and their seed heads, and thought I'd branch out a bit.
Like many of my pen/line drawings, I draw, then scan and use the computer to colour the scan in series of colours. In this case, I also chopped the drawing to produce this book-mark shaped extract.
You can imagine that converting a loose drawing like this into enclosed shapes for computer manipulation was quite a challenge, and needed several short focussed attempts over a couple of days
