Flow 2:
Flow 2 and the others that followed are all variations of the freedom I gave myself to produce Flow 1.
Like Flow1, this is created on Bristol Board using Sumi and a Japanese brush. For Flow 2, however, I started each line with a number, so the columns are numbers (from right to left, of course) 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ichi, ni, san, shi, go. In each line I've tried to 'sneak in' a real character, hiragana or two. Sometimes I succeeded, sometimes not.
The flow of Sumi on the very smooth thick paper I used was very fast compared to Japanese practice or other calligraphy papers. The ink doesn't sink in or disburse, and the effects pressure, speed, and full or watered inks are very different to more absorbent papers.
