Hertfordshire Young Cultural Ambassadors’ Programme Celebration

Hertfordshire Young Cultural Ambassadors’ Programme Celebration

Schools, young people and Arts and Cultural Organisations are warmly invited to join us for the Hertfordshire Young Cultural Ambassadors’ Programme Celebration 2015. The event takes place from 10-12.30pm.

Since June 2012, YCAs have been developing exciting programmes of cultural and arts activity that have transformed 6 Hertfordshire Schools (6 Secondary, 4Primary). This programme has allowed schools to forge new connections with arts organisations, support the teaching of the arts and develop schools’ enrichment offer.

‘I am delighted that Samuel Ryder students are getting the opportunity to be part of the YCA programme. The students directly involved have gained tangible skills and in confidence, that they are now using to spread their passion for the arts to other students and stakeholders – a great example of student leadership at its best!’

Matthew Gauthier, Head Teacher, Samuel Ryder Academy, YCA School 2015.

The programme has been a powerful catalyst for school leaders to support young people who have led workshops, school celebrations and visits to arts organisations including the Watford Palace Theatre. This programme has been supported by a series of activities for teachers and pupils including:

- Workshops on leadership with the Trestle Theatre, St.Albans
- Events on creative career education
- Tours of the University of Hertfordshire
- Teacher networking and support meetings.

The programme has also offered resources for teachers and young people including Toolkits and calendars and ‘how to’ guides on accessing the arts in Hertfordshire and developing opportunities across the school.

At this event you will get an opportunity to:

- Discover what YCAs have achieved through the programme
- Find out more about programme impacts from teachers
- Get information about the future of the YCA programme and how to apply.
