VACANCY - Schools Liason Officer - Hatfield

Hertfordshire Music Service is a large organisation within Herts County Council, with over 25,000 young people involved in activities. We employ over 500 teachers and trade with over 380 schools as well as operating a network of music centres. As part of HCC’s Children’s Services, we strive to ensure that our service is easily accessed by children young people and their families.

We offer music activities for the whole family, including family jams, rock schools, informal learning approaches and projects in composing and performing. At the top of our pyramid of opportunities the County Youth Orchestra is recognised as one of the best in the country, and we have pleasure in promoting other art forms including dance and drama.

The East Herts Schools Liaison Officer will be based at Central Office in Hatfield (Mid Herts Music Centre) and involve travelling to other music centres in the East Area. The post will involve communication with schools by phone, by e mail and in person about the breadth of opportunities provided by Hertfordshire Music Service as well as liaising with visiting instrumental teachers in schools and music centres.

We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills and excellent IT skills. An interest in music is desirable as well as a good knowledge of schools’ financial procedures.

The post holder will also be responsible for supporting other members of the Area Administrative staff.

Due to the nature of the role, candidates must have the ability to travel throughout the County.
