Songwriter 2015 - Half Term Song-Writing Workshops

A chance to win a performance slot on stage at the Royal Albert Hall.

Young song-writers from Hertfordshire can win the chance to perform their songs at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 13th March 2016, as part Hertfordshire Music Service’s Songwriter 2015 competition.

Songwriter is a competition aimed at nurturing and developing talented song-writers aged 8 -18 by offering coaching and feedback from professional musicians and providing them with opportunities to perform their songs in front of an audience. The competition has run bi-annually since 2003 and has helped put Hertfordshire on the map as a county producing talented original songwriters.

To enter the Songwriter competition, young people should write and record an original song in any musical style and then upload their song directly to an online chart at http://www.musicnet-east.org.uk/songwriter2015. The 2015 Songwriter competition is now open and songs by young people in Hertfordshire uploaded to the website by Monday 2 November will be considered for Hertfordshire Music Service's Schools Gala Concert at the Royal Albert Hall.

To help young people prepare and record their songs, song-writing workshops will run in Watford, Hatfield and Stevenage during the October half-term holiday. The workshops are free of charge and will offer the opportunity to work with professional musicians to write and record a song in one day. The details of the workshops are as follows:

Thursday 29th October, 9.30am-3pm
