Six-piece Full English Breakfast, established in 1996, play a wide range of material - and instruments, including bass, drums, acoustic and electric guitars, banjo, mandolin, keyboards, violin, accordion, saxophone – and, on occasion, bagpipes! Almost all of them sing too.
Personell are Andy Burton, Chris Deering, Dave Bache, Peter Spafford, Jon Rust and Steve Sykes. Their backgrounds include theatre, poetry and teaching.
Expect the unexpected with songs about cycling and bicycling specially arranged for this gig. Dancing to more well-known songs, and the band’s own versions of standards, will also be encouraged!
A spokesman for the band said “We are not just going to peddle our usual songs, but will be re-cycling old and older songs about bikes and biking in order to provide some fun dance music.”
Le Grand Méchant Guillaume are a four-piece with Gareth Wood (lead vocals + accoustic guitar), Yves Durieu (drums + vocals), Bruno Voiturier (bass + vocals) and Big Bad William Barteau himself (on ageing and very expensive fender stratocaster with fender valve amp). They say “ We are more or less French, are good mates and don't take ourselves too seriously. We'll be learning a few French songs for the tour but we mostly do classic pop/rock à la sauce BBB”.
Choppards Mission is in itself a very special place, so combine some local history, perhaps a walk or a cycle-ride, with some English and French music.
The Mission is in a beautiful pastoral and isolated setting near the head of the Ribble Valley in Holmfirth Parish. It was built in 1839 as a school for the surrounding hamlets. It was used as a Sunday School since 1914, and in 2006 the chapel was totally renovated in a very striking and beautiful way, by a volunteer team of church members who are talented artists. The result is quite exceptional.
The adjoining social and function room is the ideal place to get up close to music.
The following day will see the peloton making the arduous climb up to nearby Holme Moss.
