Dance United Yorkshire – Artist Call Out
Dance United Yorkshire is looking to expand its pool of freelance dance artists. We are looking to recruit skilled and experienced local artists to help deliver a varied programme of work accessing vulnerable and disengaged young people and adults across West Yorkshire.
DUY positively changes the lives of marginalised and hard-to-reach people through high-quality dance training and performance. The company deliver a variety of projects and initiatives, modelled on contemporary dance training and performance, whilst working in partnership with frontline organisations predominantly across the West Yorkshire region. Client groups include:
•young people disengaged from mainstream education
•young people under Youth Offending Teams
•young people within Pupil Referral Units
•those identified by Families First teams
•those at risk of sexual exploitation
•vulnerable adults who suffer with mental health problems and/or have experienced domestic abuse
•those in secure centres/custodial settings
Dance United Yorkshire is looking for highly skilled dance artists with a genuine interest in social inclusion. They need a strong desire to work with challenging young people and adults in a variety of settings i.e. intensive projects, evening provisions, bespoke projects in custodial settings/secure centres.
Artists will be invited to a free training day with Artistic Director, Helen Linsell, introducing potential artists to Dance United Yorkshire’s unique methodologies and practice in social inclusion. Here you can gain an insight into working within this context, exploring strategies with non-engagement, as well as becoming more familiar with the organisations values.
