Carnival Artist Commission

Leeds Inspired Commission with Leeds West Indian Carnival are looking to commission five artists to create stunning new carnival costume headpieces to celebrate the 50th birthday of Leeds West Indian Carnival in 2017.

The commissioned headpieces will form part of a city-wide participation project that will celebrate the creativity of carnival costume artists and spread word of the upcoming anniversary. Each headpiece will be themed to represent the key stages of the journey of Leeds West Indian Carnival from the Caribbean to Leeds.

The headpieces will tour the city and people of all ages will be invited to have a portrait photograph taken whilst wearing one of them.
