Curator - Welwyn Hatfield Museum Service
Salary: £29,082 - £31,638 pa. Full time - 37 hours per week.
Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated curator with proven collections management skills, a flair for exhibitions, a love of communication and greater interpersonal abilities to join the Museum Service of Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council. There is plenty of potential to build up community engagement.
This busy service runs two heritage sites. At Mill Green Museum and Mill we operate a working watermill and social history museum. At Welwyn Roman Baths, we show the remains of a Roman bathing suite, ingeniously preserved under the A1(M) motorway.
Working closely with our dedicated team of staff and volunteers, you will be responsible for the care and interpretation of our collections at both sites, and create exhibitions; promote access to the collections; and ensure a high standard of collections care.
You will also act as deputy to the Museums Manager and oversee the day to day operations of the Bath House.
Educated to degree level with a postgraduate Museum Studies qualification, you will have at least 3 years professional experience of working in an accredited museum in a collections and exhibitions based role, and be able to demonstrate good organisational, communication and IT skills.
A driving licence valid in UK and use of a motor vehicle is essential. This post is subject to enhanced DBS check.
