Sweet Charity follows the journey of feisty, bubbly, and naïve New York dance hall hostess, Charity Hope Valentine. Charity believes that Mr Right is just around the corner and in her inexhaustible search for love, always manages to attract Mr Wrong! It takes a chance meeting in an elevator for her to finally learn the true meaning of what it is to feel valued. Her journey takes her to flashy apartments, spending the night in a film star’s wardrobe, fairground rides and an unforgettable religious experience!

This is one of Bob Fosse’s greatest directorial and choreographic achievements with over 600 performances at its original premiere in 1966, winning several awards and taking Broadway and subsequently Hollywood, by storm.

The energy and pace never stands still and the audience is swept into the exuberant world of 1960’s dance halls, its glitterati, and its chararcter’s personal hopes and dreams, all seen through the lens of some very unusual encounters! Sweet Charity is toe tapping, seductive and raw and is a dance musical in every sense, with a strong powerful narrative at its heart. It features some of the greatest and most memorable numbers in the musical world including; Hey, Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now and of course the iconic Rhythm of Life.

Performed by the Second Year Musical Theatre students working with the professional production team who brought you, The Matchgirls, On the Town and Honk!- this is another show not to be missed!!
