There’s nothing I like better than coming across a new location entirely by chance - this one on a mundane errand to a nearby industrial estate.
The photo was taken on the Northern fringe of St Albans at Beech Bottom Dyke, a pre-Roman earthwork. If you’d like to experience the Dyke, you’ll find it located between suburban housing and industrial estates - OS map ref TL156092.
Take your camera, take your binoculars and take your time to enjoy the echoes of history and birdsong in this special landscape.
