Window displayChelston Gallery in Torquay sadly closed at the end of December 2010. It was the only gallery in the area that had regular exhibitions featuring exclusively work by artists from in and around the Torbay region - including Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, and Dartmoor, South Hams and Teignbridge areas.
Chelston Gallery had been an important member of the local business and shopping community for nearly 20 years, with Kevin Alexander being its proprietor for the last 8½ years. The gallery hosted what was probably Torbay's largest collection of original art by our region's artists for sale, with over 60 artists represented at some point, either through the monthly exhibition cycle or as regular members of the gallery's group of artists. Several of our region's artists had their first solo exhibition and/or began their move from private hobby painter to publicly exhibiting and selling painter at Chelston Gallery.
As well as the exhibition and sale of artwork, Chelston Galler offered a bespoke picture framing service, with a high level of repeat custom - Kevin's customers came from not just the local area, but from as far away as London and Edinburgh!
