Tom Toal (Compere)

Regulars to our Buntingford Comedy Nights will know Tom as our humorous compere, who has an ability to connect with audiences on local issues. Tom is a comedian, writer and actor, hailing from the town of Bexleyheath, South East London, which is famed for being the birth place of Kate Bush….and that’s it. He performed his debut show On The Scrapheap about the break-up of his 6 year relationship at the Edinburgh and Leicester Festivals in 2010 achieving widespread acclaim and reviews. The follow up Rom-Coms and Revolutions followed in a similar vein playing to a complete sell out audience for the full run. Tom performed at The Comedy Reserve with The Pleasance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and became an Amused Moose Best Comedy Show finalist for his solo Edinburgh Festival Fringe show, Prequel. He opened gigs for Rob Brydon for some of Rob’s tour across the country. One of Tom’s major strengths is his ability to adapt to his audience. Having hosted a range of events from Post Rock Bands album launch to benefit nights for the Socialist Workers Party, Tom has no trouble changing his style to suit the audience, whether it be Stag/Hen weekends, art centre events or corporate crowds.

Tim Clark

Tim has been a Stand-up comic for most of his adult life. He has performed around the world, including Europe, The Far East, The Middle East and South Africa. He is resident host of ‘British Stand-Up,’ in Bergen, Norway, and has performed in shows for the British Armed Forces. He has also worked at hundreds of corporate events either as a host or a solo act. He was a finalist in the “British Comedian of The Year” competition which had over 700 entrants. On TV he hosted the classic game show “Give Us A Clue” (BBC) and the sporting chat show “Under the Moon” (CH4), as well as scores of appearances on various TV and panel shows. On radio he has been a panellist on “Fighting Talk”, featured on “I Can’t Stand Up For Falling Down”, and was a regular with Bob Mills on “Tragedy Plus Time” and their show “Yesterday’s News Today“.

Cally Beaton

Cally is one of the most sought-after names on the live comedy circuit. It was while working for Comedy Central that Cally was nudged into the sphere of performance after a chance meeting with the late great Joan Rivers. As a 45-year-old single parent, Cally took to the stage. She quickly cemented her position as one of the most exciting and original new stand ups in the country, with her acerbic, unflinching and clever brand of comedy. Her television appearances to date include being a regular panellist on QI (BBC) and The Apprentice (BBC), as well as featuring on: Live at the Apollo, Pointless Celebrities, Richard Osmans House of Games, Countdown Dictionary Corner and The Blame Game. Her BBC Radio 4 appearances include: The Now Show, The Unbelievable Truth and Saturday Live,

John Mann

John’s sharp observation and wry wit mingled effortlessly with a gentle and confident rapport ensures he is unfailingly funny. Whether he is discussing the senile antics of senior citizens or giving handy hints to aid successful shoplifting, John’s gentle and honest delivery makes him one of the most enjoyable comedians on the circuit today. John is at home with an audience of students as he is with corporate dinner guests, and frequently appears in most of the UK’s leading comedy clubs. John is a regular and longstanding part of the Jongleurs act, and has worked all over the world. He also has a very popular fortnightly column in the Herts and Essex Observer and has monthly residencies at The Rhodes Arts Complex in Bishop’s Stortford, The Square in Harlow and High Barn in Great Bardfield.
