The Taming of the Shrew?

Breakaway Theatre Company are proud to be returning to The Inn On The Park for their annual outdoor Summer Shakespeare production, on 28th-30th June and 5th-7th July 2018.

The beautiful and gentle Bianca has no shortage of admirers (Lucentia, Gremia and Hortensia) but her father insists that she will not marry until her shrewish sister, Katherina (Kate), is betrothed. Bianca's suitors persuade fortune-seeker Petruchio to court her. The suitors pay for any costs involved and there is also the goal of Katherina's dowry. Petruchio marries Katherina and carries her off to his country house with his servant Grumia. Petruchio intends to browbeat Katherina into submission and denies her food, sleep and her new clothes, whilst continuously singing her praises. Kate is tamed… or is she? This is a story of love, disguised identity and passion.
