Dance Practitioner CPD: Dance for people living with Parkinson's

Dance Practitioner CPD: Dance for people living with Parkinson's

Thursday 6th July 2017, 10.00am - 1.00pm

(plus 10 hours online training prior to the practical workshop)

Rehearsal Room, Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage Arts & Leisure Centre, Lytton Way, Stevenage, Hertfordshire SG1 1LZ

Online: to be completed in your own time, the 8-unit online training programme is run by People Dancing and Dance for PD ®. It prepares dance practitioners for the practical, in-person introductory workshop and successful completion of the online course is a prerequisite to attend the introductory workshop on Thursday 6th July. Once you have booked you will receive confirmation of how to log on to the course.

(Successful completion of the online course assessment will also make you eligible to do the comprehensive training programme - see People Dancing http://www.communitydance.org.uk/ for more information about the comprehensive training.)

Introductory workshop: a practical dance workshop delivered by Danielle Teale, a dance artist who develops specialist and bespoke dance programmes and performances for a range of participants with diverse needs. She is a lead Practitioner for Royal Opera House, Creative Associate of English National Ballet, Community Dance Artist for Green Candle Dance Company, Lead Artist of East London Dance and Artistic Consultant for Dance for Health Rotterdam.

The training is ideal for those who are already delivering dance for older adults who would like to understand more about dance opportunities for people living with Parkinson’s. It will give you practical advice and ideas that can be applied to a range of groups.

This training and introductory workshop is supported by The Dance for Parkinson’s Partnership - supporting the training of dance artists and teachers in this specialist area of dance delivery, and increasing opportunities to dance for people living with Parkinson’s.

Tickets: £40 for the online training and introductory workshop package. This is a highly subsidised rate made possible by funding for the Dance Re:Ignite project from Arts Council England and Creative Hertfordshire. (The standard price of the online programme alone is £65).
